About Janna

Janna Hüneke, born in Germany, has been devoted to music most of her life. Growing up in a musical family, she was surrounded by music from birth - her father was a professional singer and her mother a keen pianist.  She studied with Averil Williams at the Guildhall School of Music while she was also taking a Music Degree at the City University, London. Janna has also studied with Patricia Morris, Geoffrey Gilbert & Peter Lloyd.

 

Janna has given recitals and concerts in venues such as St. Martin’s in the Fields, St James’ Piccadilly, Westminster Cathedral, Snape Maltings, as well as numerous concert halls in Germany & Belgium where she has toured many times, often with her ensemble Harmoniemusik of which she is a founder member.

 

Janna freelances all around the country, playing in orchestras, ensembles and as a soloist. She was principal flute in the orchestra of Pimlico Opera & played for Grange Park Opera for many years. Janna has worked with many leading conductors including Roger Norrington, Peter Eötvös, Lionel Friend & Harry Christophers.

 

Janna is also experienced in the recording studio, having worked on film sessions, backing tracks and other recordings, including a programme of music for 2 flutes, broadcast by WDR3 in Germany.

 

Janna is an active teacher. She currently teaches at St John's College School in Cambridge, at her studio at home, and online. Janna runs several courses including Flute School London, Flutes in France, and the eflute academy, which is an online teaching forum for adults.

 

Janna plays an Altus flute with an Arista head-joint.
